After many hours of contemplation and conversations with both colleagues and administration at Skyridge Middle School, I have made a decision to separate the Language Arts and Social Studies grades. From this term forward, the LA/SS grade will no longer be a single, combination grade but rather two separate grades based on performance in each class. If you would like to discuss this change in more detail, please email me at [email protected]

For the next 6 weeks our focus in class will be on narrative writing. The students will be writing stories, both fiction and non fiction. The curriculum we will be studying is that of Lucy Calkins, renowned writing teacher and curriculum designer. The curriculum is one that requires lots of energy and effort and being in class is key because daily instruction and modeling is imperative.
I am in the process of getting Word documents transferred over to PDFs. If you have Microsoft Word, you should be able to view all posted assignments by clicking on the links in the calendar on the day it was assigned.
